A new traffic signal system will be activated at the intersection of 78th Avenue East and 192nd Street East near Graham on March 31 to improve intersection operations.
Currently, there are stop signs on 192nd Street East where it intersects with 78th Avenue East.
In addition to the new signal, crews will install street lighting at the intersection and connect the new signal to the existing traffic signal at 204th Street East using fiber optic cable. Crosswalks will also be installed.
Motorists can expect intermittent delays on March 31. There will be alternating one-way traffic at times. Motorists should use alternate routes when possible.
In the event of inclement weather, the signal may be activated in two stages. Once the electrical work is complete, the signal will operate in a flashing mode until the pavement markings and signage are installed. If it rains, the markings installation will be postponed and the flashing operation will remain in place until weather permits. The full traffic signal operation will be activated once the markings and signage are installed.
The project contractor is Transportation Systems, Inc. The construction cost is approximately $358,943. The project is funded with County Road Funds.
