The public is invited to learn about potential improvements to the ferry loading lanes at the Steilacoom Terminal during upcoming community meetings in Steilacoom and on Anderson Island.
The Steilacoom meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 14 at Steilacoom Town Hall, 1717 Lafayette St.
The potential changes will be discussed during the regular meeting of the Anderson Island Citizens’ Advisory Board at 7 p.m. July 13 at the Anderson Island Community Clubhouse, located at 11319 Yoman Road.
Pierce County previously held a meeting about the potential changes on May 22 in Steilacoom.
Potential improvements
There are three loading lanes along Union Avenue. Potential improvements to the lanes include adding a ticket booth in between the loading lanes and increasing lane capacity by closing Lafayette Street west of Union Avenue.
Pierce County is in the process of reviewing potential improvements at this site. A final proposal, timeline and funding will be identified later.
The Pierce County Ferry System provides service between the town of Steilacoom, Anderson Island and Ketron Island. More information about the system is available at www.piercecountywa.org/ferry.
