[ARCHIVED] Wednesday ferry schedule adjusted

June 15, 2012

Pierce County has revised its June and July ferry fuel run schedule to accommodate residents and visitors celebrating the Fourth of July holiday in Steilacoom or on Anderson or Ketron islands. This means some noon and 12:30 p.m. ferry runs on Wednesdays will be canceled or available out of the standard sequence.

Fuel runs are typically held on the first and third Wednesday of each month. On a day of a fuel run, the noon ferry that departs Steilacoom for Anderson Island is canceled. The 12:30 p.m. ferry that departs Anderson Island for Steilacoom is also canceled.

"Because the Fourth of July falls on a Wednesday this year - the normal day for a planned fuel run - Pierce County has revised the schedule in order to accommodate residents and vacationers attending local celebrations," said Deb Wallace, Public Works and Utilities airport and ferry administrator. "With these changes, the noon and 12:30 p.m. departures will be available on the Fourth of July, and fuel runs in June and July have been shifted."

Please see below for the revised schedule for the noon and 12:30 p.m. ferry runs on Wednesdays in June and July:

June:
June 20: noon and 12:30 p.m. ferry canceled; fuel run
June 27: noon and 12:30 p.m. ferry canceled; fuel run

July:
July 4: noon and 12:30 p.m. ferry available; no fuel run
July 11: noon and 12:30 p.m. ferry canceled; fuel run
July 18: noon and 12:30 p.m. ferry canceled; fuel run
July 25: noon and 12:30 p.m. ferry available; no fuel run

The Pierce County Ferry System provides service between the town of Steilacoom, Anderson Island and Ketron Island. To learn more about the ferry schedule, visit www.piercecountywa.org/ferry.
