[ARCHIVED] Free homeowners workshops focus on stormwater systems

Pierce County residents who live in communities with homeowners associations are invited to attend a workshop on how to maintain and protect their stormwater systems.

The free workshops, offered by Pierce County Public Works and Utilities, will cover the types of stormwater systems in neighborhoods, how they work, and how homeowners can maintain and protect these community assets to protect water quality and avoid high costs of future system replacements.

“Homeowners can help protect our waterways by maintaining neighborhood stormwater systems,” said Dan Wrye, water quality manager with the Surface Water Management division. “The strategies we cover in the workshops could save homeowners associations money on costly repairs.”

Workshops will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the following locations:

• Sept. 26: Parkland-Spanaway Library, 13718 Pacific Ave. S in Tacoma
• Oct. 17: Gig Harbor Library, 4424 Point Fosdick Dr. NW in Gig Harbor• Oct. 25: Sumner Library, 1116 Fryar Ave. in Sumner

To register for a workshop, contact Rosie Strom at (253) 798-2485 or [email protected]. For more information, visit www.piercecountywa.org/techassist or www.piercecountywa.org/wqws.
