[ARCHIVED] Industry Notice - TPCHD and PPW Report on co-location improvements

In October, Planning and Public Works and Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department changed the way we work together to improve services for our shared customers.

Building on our long-term partnership, the Health Department added more employees at the Development Center to serve on-site sewage and drinking water permit customers so you, our customers, can get more done in one location.

We hope you’ve experienced faster and more convenient service.

Report on process improvements released
We’re only at the beginning stages of our planned improvements in how we serve you. With your help, we’ve identified further planned improvements for the months ahead.

We reported these planned improvements to the Pierce County Executive and the Tacoma-Pierce County Board of Health Chair earlier today. Review the report.

Industry representatives and staff from both departments provided feedback on these improvements through interviews and surveys. Thank you to those that provided input.

More improvements to come
The two departments will each have a role in the first phase of improvements in 2019, including:

  • Implement an electronic file review for permit applications for the Health Department.
  • Develop a single site plan for development projects.
  • Reduce the number of permit application resubmittals.

We will continue to reach out to our customers as we move forward with these improvements.

If you have questions or feedback about this report or the co-location, please email Melanie at [email protected] or Jessica at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Melanie D. Halsan
