[ARCHIVED] Critical Area Sign-Off Improvements

Faster Critical Area Sign-Off for Septic and Well Systems

If you are considering a septic system or well on property in Pierce County, you will need a critical area sign-off if there are wetland, flood hazard or landslide hazard indicators on the property.

This sign-off review creates an overlap of review responsibilities between Planning & Public Works and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. Recent improvements to our electronic process for critical area sign-offs will lead to faster response times.

Staff from PPW and the Health Department are now using technology that allows them to share information to the benefit of our customers.

This improvement is a continuation of an effort to provide timely, reliable and efficient service that began last year with co-location of Health Department staff at the Pierce County Annex.
