Inspections and Phase 2 Construction Requirements
Pierce County’s transition to Phase 2 of the Safe Start Washington plan means that all construction projects can resume. We are committed to doing all we can to help get our economy moving and are ready to respond to the surge of inspection requests with timely and reliable service.
For the safety of everyone at the construction site please make sure you have implemented the Phase 2 Construction COVID-19 Safety Plan before scheduling inspections.
Though Phase 2 requirements reduce the required PPE that inspectors and contractors must wear onsite, construction sites are still required to maintain social distancing guidelines and wear a mask if other people are onsite.
In addition to the Governor’s revised orders we continue to allow Skype, FaceTime and Microsoft Teams inspections for the following projects:
- New or replacement residential furnace and heat pumps
- Residential water heaters
- Generators
- Occupied residential remodels
- Additional inspection types such as: shower pans, decks, previous corrections on partial approved inspections may also be completed virtually.
Thank you to construction site operators for ensuring a safe worksite for us all.
Please contact Nick Waggood, Assistant Building Official, by email if you have questions about inspections.
General questions about how to comply with construction safety practices should be directed to the state’s Business Response Center.
We are already planning for the transition to Phase 3 and the reopening of government services. As we prepare to welcome customers back to the Development Center, our focus remains on providing excellent customer service, whether online or in person
