In response to COVID-19, the Washington State Building Code Council (SBCC) approved a motion to postpone the implementation of the 2018 model codes with Washington State Amendments to February 1, 2021. These codes outline the minimum construction requirements for the state of Washington and this marks the second time implementation has been postponed due to the pandemic.

The 2015 model codes, which went into effect on July 1, 2016, remain in effect until February 1, 2021 and can be found on the State Building Code website.
