On Saturday, Pierce County Superior Court canceled new jurors for the week of November 23rd. Our Executive Committee met this morning, and due to the spike in COVID-19 cases and our interest in keeping staff and court participants as safe as possible, has decided to suspend new jury trials. This affects those trials set to begin on or after November 23rd through at least Monday January 11, 2021. Jury trials already in progress will continue and jurors for those cases are expected to show up at their regularly scheduled time. Emergency Order 20-15, which will be sent out later today does not affect bench trials, or other in-court appearances.
Superior Court would request that citizens of Pierce County follow the recommendations of the Governor in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
