Introducing Fast Track Permitting for Covered Porches & 1 or 2 Car Garages

New Fast Track Permitting Options
To save you time and money on common projects, we have added covered porches and patios, as well as 1 and 2 car garages to our Fast Track Permitting options. These are in addition to the Fast Track Permitting for decks, detached carports or similar detached structure projects that were launched in December 2020.

This option allows budget-minded builders to choose from pre-designed plans with no engineer or architect required. It will also help get your project built faster during this busy time of year.

Simply use one of the fillable forms on our website to design to your specification, then submit with your building permit application. A completed form serves as your submitted plan. Please note that a site plan is still needed with your permit application.

Eligible Covered Porch and Patio Projects
For covered areas attached to a legally established, stick built, residential structure. A maximum post height of 10 feet bearing on its own footing will support the structure and you can choose between a shed or gable roof not to exceed 500 square feet.

Eligible 1 and 2 Car Garage Projects
For a single or double stall garage and can be modified for use as a shop, or any other unheated, un-plumbed accessory structure. This is a guide created by Pierce County to allow a faster plan review of a detached garage. Your project must fall within the parameters, including a 10-foot max wall height and a maximum footprint of 24 feet by 24 feet.
