The Foothills Dash, presented by Pierce County Parks, welcomes all ages and abilities along the Foothills Trail and offers easy sloping and paved 5K, 10K, or half-marathon distances. The in-person race will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Foothills Trail in Orting while the virtual race will occur April 16-18, 2021. Pre-registration is required for participation in either option and can be done online.
The in-person run begins at Orting Main City Park and follows one of the most scenic sections of the trail with unobstructed views of Mt. Rainier, along the Carbon River, and upstream through farmland and forest. The 5K and 10K courses are USATF-certified and all distances will be chip timed. To accommodate social distancing requirements, participants are asked to wear a mask while not actively running, pre-register for a staggered start time, and arrive no more than 10 minutes before your start. Registration will not be available on the day of the race, and participants should remain in their vehicles until their check-in time. The registration deadline is April 2, 2021.
Virtual race participants of all skill levels and abilities who like to run, walk, or a combination of both, can be a part of the Foothills Dash 5K and 10K options from April 16-18, 2021. Participants may race at their own pace and location of their choosing. Whether at home on the treadmill, on a favorite neighborhood trail, or even at a local park, the options are endless.
Foothills Dash virtual participants still need to pre-register but can complete the challenge in multiple parts or all at once until the 5K or 10K goal is reached. After registration, a race log will be emailed to virtual participants to keep track of miles and return to Pierce County Parks.
All participants will receive a Foothills Dash race bib and the first 60 registrants racing 5K or 10K will receive a keepsake medal. All half-marathoners will receive a finisher’s medal. Five lucky entries will be randomly drawn to receive a gift certificate for new running shoes compliments of South Sound Running. For more information or to register for the in-person or virtual race, visit the Foothills Dash website or call 253-798-4199.
