[ARCHIVED] Judge Penalver Appointed to the Newly Created 23rd Judicial Department

PRESS RELEASE

April 20, 2021

JUDGE PENALVER APPOINTED TO THE NEWLY CREATED 23RD JUDICIAL DEPARTMENT

Pierce County Superior Court is pleased to announce that Andre Penalver has been appointed by Governor Jay Inslee to the newly created Department 23.

Judge Penalver will begin with Superior Court on July 26th. Penalver has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Tacoma since 2015. Prior to his work for the U.S. Attorney’s Office he worked as a civil litigator for Gordon Thomas Honeywell in Tacoma and Stokes Lawrence in Yakima.  His public swearing-in ceremony will be held at a later date due to COVID restrictions.

In appointing Penalver as a Superior Court Judge, Governor Jay Inslee had this to say.

“André is a talented attorney and I am thrilled that he will continue his career in public service,” Inslee said. “He has a breadth of professional experience that has prepared him well for the bench, and his civic-mindedness will serve the court and the Pierce County community well into the future.”

Please join us in congratulating Judge Penalver on his appointment to the Pierce County Superior Court bench.
