Guardrail, retaining walls coming to section of 264th Street East

About 600 feet of guardrail will be installed on the outside edge of 264th Street East to increase safety. The work will start May 17 and is expected to be complete in late June.

The work area starts approximately 1,000 feet east of 158th Avenue East, between Orting Kapowsin Highway East and Orville Road East.

Two retaining walls constructed of spiral nails will be built starting approximately 1,000 feet west of 163rd Avenue East. The walls will stabilize the slope along the outside edge of the road. The walls will be approximately 60 feet long and 140 feet long.

Traffic impacts
Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The two-lane road may be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic during work hours.

Granite Construction Company is the project contractor. The construction cost is approximately $640,000 and is funded with County Road Funds.
