Pierce County survey asks why and where people walk, bike and roll

Updated: This survey has been extended through Dec. 30.

Pierce County wants to know why and where people walk, bike and roll in unincorporated areas of the county.

Residents can visit www.piercecountywa.gov/active through Dec. 30, 2021, to take a survey on how they use active transportation modes. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Russian and Korean.

The active transportation system serves pedestrians, bicyclists and others who travel by human-powered means. The system includes sidewalks, trails and marked bike lanes.

“The survey results will help Pierce County better understand the mobility patterns and needs of residents as we develop our Active Transportation Plan,” said Brian D. Stacy, P.E., Pierce County Planning and Public Works county engineer.

The plan will include a vision, policies and projects that guide the development of the active transportation system in unincorporated areas.

Visit www.piercecountywa.gov/active for a printable version of the survey. Those who would like printed copies be mailed to them can submit a request at www.piercecountywa.gov/active, call (253) 798-3552, email [email protected], or mail PPW Transportation Planning, 2702 South 42nd St. Suite 109, Tacoma, WA 98409.

Visit www.piercecountywa.gov/active to sign up for email updates about the Active Transportation Plan.
