SUPERIOR COURT PRESS RELEASE
January 18, 2022
CONTINUED SUSPENSION OF JURY TRIALS
In consultation with the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department, Pierce County Superior Court has continued the suspension of all new civil and criminal jury trials until at least February 11, 2022. Jury trials are slated to begin again on February 14th. This date will be revisited as it approaches to see if it needs to be extended. This decision was made in part due to the continued rise in Omicron case numbers and our interest in keeping staff and court participants as safe as possible. The Emergency Order suspending trials, which will be sent out later today, does not affect bench trials, or other in-court appearances.
Superior Court requests that citizens of Pierce County follow the recommendations of the Washington State Department of Health, the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department and the Governor in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
