[ARCHIVED] RESUMPTION OF JURY TRIALS - February 14th, 2022

On January 4, 2022, Pierce County Superior Court, in consultation with the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department suspended all new civil and criminal jury trials due to the impact from the Omicron variant. In-person proceedings and bench trials were still allowed to proceed. On January 18, 2022, the court extended the suspension of jury trials through February 11th. The Superior Court Executive Committee met today and has affirmed the January 18th order to resume civil and criminal jury trials on February 14, 2022.

Superior Court requests that citizens of Pierce County follow the recommendations of the Washington State Department of Health, the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department, and the Governor in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Masks that provide a higher level of protection than cloth masks are encouraged. Superior Court facilities will have a stockpile of surgical, N95 and K95 masks for court participants who would feel more comfortable with a more protective mask.
