The community is invited to provide feedback on an upcoming Key Peninsula intersection project via an online open house through March 31.
Pierce County is analyzing alternatives to reconfigure the Key Peninsula Highway Northwest/Lackey Road Northwest/Jackson Lake Road Northwest intersection to improve safety and functionality.
“We invite the community to review the intersection options and provide feedback on which one they prefer,” said Letticia Neal, P.E., the Pierce County Planning and Public Works Department’s Transportation Improvement Section manager.
The online open house and a short survey are available at www.piercecountywa.gov/keypenroads. The information is available in English, Spanish and Russian.
About the intersection project
The intersection handles all traffic traveling north and south through the area.
Pierce County is exploring six potential alternatives to reconfigure the intersection, such as converting the intersection to a single-lane roundabout or creating two separate intersections.
Pierce County will review the community’s feedback and select the preferred alternative. A field survey of the road, started in January, will be completed and preliminary engineering will be started by December 2022. There is currently no funding for right-of-way acquisitions or construction for this project, so a construction timeline has not been set.
