Section of Point Fosdick Drive Northwest to be resurfaced

Crews will resurface a section of Point Fosdick Drive Northwest starting May 31. The work is expected to be completed in late July.

The approximately 1-mile stretch runs from just north of Stone Drive Northwest to approximately 325 feet south of 36th Street Northwest, where Point Fosdick Drive Northwest enters Gig Harbor city limits.

The existing pavement is made of concrete. The pavement will be fractured through a process called crack and seat, which provides a firm and stable base, and then topped with a new layer of asphalt to provide a smooth surface.

Crews will install guardrails at several locations through the project area.

The two-lane road may be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic during work hours. A pilot car may lead motorists through the project area during certain phases of the work.

General work hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. During certain phases of the work, work hours may be extended. Information about extended hours will be posted at www.piercecountywa.gov/crp5880.

The project’s contractor is Miles Resources LLC. The construction cost is approximately $1.25 million. The project is funded with federal Surface Transportation Program funds and County Road Funds.
