Inslee Announces Appointment of TaTeasha Davis to Pierce County Superior Court

Pierce County Superior Court is pleased to announce that TaTeasha Davis has been appointed by Governor Jay Inslee to fill the vacancy created with the retirement of Judge James R. Orlando.

Judge Davis will take over Department 1 on January 17, 2023. Judge Davis grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and has made Washington her home since 2005. She double majored in English and History and earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 2002. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law in 2005. Since graduating from law school, Judge Davis has primarily practiced civil litigation. After passing the Washington State Bar Exam she practiced Bankruptcy Law in Downtown Seattle for Macey & Aleman. Then, she took the skills she learned from practicing Bankruptcy in Federal Court and opened a solo practice expanding her focus to Family Law and Personal Injury. After eight years in solo practice, Judge Davis moved to Pierce County to take on the role of in-house attorney for the Pierce County YWCA. In that role, she helped clients experiencing domestic violence navigate various legal issues within the realm of Family Law. After leaving the Pierce County YWCA she was offered the position as Senior Family Law Attorney at Bighorse & Associates, PLLC. In 2020, Judge Davis was appointed by Governor Inslee to the Indeterminate Sentence Review Board (ISRB) to serve as a quasi-judicial officer. In that role she presided over release and revocation hearings for a specified population of incarcerated individuals. Judge Davis is also privileged to serve her community as a board member for Associated Ministries and Pierce County YWCA.

In appointing Judge Davis to the Superior Court, Governor Jay Inslee had this to say:

“TaTeasha has worked in an array of practice areas, often representing clients who have faced racism and other unfortunate biases. In her current role with the ISRB, she has gained experience as a neutral decision-maker. This varied professional experience will serve her well in navigating disputes before the Pierce County Superior Court.”
