Over $13M awarded for shelter projects

In January 2023, Pierce County Human Services awarded two organizations to support the development of new non-congregate emergency shelters. Over $13M will be awarded to the following projects:

The goal of this funding is to expand the number of emergency shelter beds in support of Pierce County’s Comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness (CPEH). Homeless individuals have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the economic impacts thereafter. This funding supports the fifth goal in the CPEH, which is to meet the mmediate needs of people experiencing homelessness.
