Primary Election logic and accuracy test

Pierce County Elections will perform the County's official logic and accuracy testing on ballot counting and processing equipment at 8:30 a.m. on July 17 at the Pierce County Elections Center, 2501 S 35th St, Suite C, in Tacoma. The test is open to the media and the public.

Before every election, Pierce County Elections tests the voting system’s vote-counting software through sample ballot-casting exercises to verify that votes are correctly tabulated and recorded. Testing requires producing and processing a test deck, which is a set of pre-determined valid votes for each candidate and for each measure, as well as one or more overvoted ballots for each contest. After the test deck has been processed through the tabulation equipment, a comparison is made between the pre-determined test deck results and the tabulator results to ensure that the “expected” vote counts match the actual vote counts.

Accessible Voting Unit pretesting will occur on July 12 at 10 a.m. and is also open to the public.

Voting period begins July 14 and ends on Aug. 1
Voters who are eligible to vote in this election will receive a ballot in the mail. Voters should expect ballots to arrive by Tuesday, July 18.
