The Ski Park Bridge along the Foothills Trail will be closed Aug. 22-24 while crews conduct geotechnical drilling.
The bridge is located about 3.5 miles east of the Orting Trailhead on the Foothills Trail.
The bridge closure will be in place 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. There are no detours or through access via the bridge during the working hours.
About the work
Crews will conduct geotechnical drilling on both sides of the Ski Park Bridge, which was originally built in 1904 as a trestle along the former railroad route. Due to age and location within a wetland area, the bridge needs replacement.
The drilling will help analyze the soil for the future construction of a new two-span, prestressed concrete girder bridge. Construction of a new bridge is scheduled for summer 2025.
