Funds available to support people with developmental disabilities

Developmental Disabilities news

Pierce County Developmental Disabilities program is requesting proposals from organizations providing Information and Education (InfoEd) services in support of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, young children with developmental delays, and families.

Approximately $540K is available annually and the initial contract period is anticipated for 12 months. Due to the diverse needs of the many communities in need of services, Pierce County DD anticipates funding more than one organization from the pool of competitive proposals received in each investment area. Because of the limited amount of funding, there is a strong need for organizations to collaborate across systems in delivering services to Service Recipients.

InfoEd services inform and/or educate the public about developmental disabilities and related services. Services may include information and referral services; activities aimed at promoting public awareness and involvement; and community consultation, capacity building, and organization activities.

Interested parties must apply online before 5 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023. Applicants must register with OpenGov, Pierce County’s new e-Procurement Portal, using this link. After signing up, an email will be sent to activate the account. There is no cost to register with OpenGov.

Pierce County's Developmental Disabilities Program works with community partners to provide services for residents of Pierce County and their families. The program is responsible for:

  • County-wide information and education.
  • Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) program for children birth to three years.
  • Employment and community inclusion programs for adults 21 and older.
  • Assisting eligible students to obtain paid employment prior to exiting school at age 21.

Primary funding for all services comes from the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services and Department of Children, Youth & Families. Learn more at www.piercecountywa.gov/DD
