Pierce County Superior Court is pleased to announce that Amber Austin has accepted our offer to become our newest Commissioner starting in early 2024, filling the vacancy left by Commissioner Craig Adams who will be retiring in early 2024. Comm. Austin’s official swearing-in will occur on her first day with the court, January 22, 2024. The date for her public ceremony will be announced later.
About Commissioner Amber Austin:
Commissioner Austin attended Tacoma Community College and then Western Washington University, where she earned a BA in Communication; she then graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2006 with a Juris Doctorate. She started practicing law in 2007, working for most of her career as a family law attorney. Commissioner Austin has operated her own private practice for over a decade where she assisted clients with divorce, child support and child custody, paternity, and domestic violence matters, and also offered mediation and collaborative law services. Commissioner Austin has served as a Title 26 Guardian ad Litem, a Title 11 Court Visitor and a Pro Tem Court Commissioner. She is a member of Washington Women Lawyers, serving as the Co-President for the Pierce County chapter for a year; and has been on the Boards for: Pierce County Lawyers Helping Hungry Children, Pierce County Washington Women Lawyers, Tacoma Community College Paralegal Advisory Committee, and the Collaborative Law Professionals of Pierce County. Commissioner Austin has also enjoyed teaching Paralegal Courses over the years.
