Language Library offers services, programs in additional languages

PCHS news

Pierce County Human Services is proud to announce the launch of the Language Library, a webpage dedicated to providing information about Human Services programs and resources to people who read and speak limited English. The library, available at, offers links to individual pages in Samoan, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese and Russian. These five languages were chosen because they represent the most common spoken across the County after English.

Residents can access the language library through the website or a series of QR codes on materials most often used by outreach staff at resource and community engagement events. Each webpage features links and descriptions to some of the Human Services Department’s most popular programs such as Eviction Prevention, Senior Nutrition Services, Energy Assistance, and support for Veterans. Community-based organizations and service providers in Pierce County are encouraged to share the Language Library with their clients and are able to print materials to share directly from the website.

"Language access is a vital part of equity and Human Services is committed to improving program accessibility within our diverse community," said Stefanie Love, Human Services Coordinator. "This Language Library is a vital first step in sharing our program information and eligibility, and we will continue to move this work forward in collaboration with our agency and community partners.”

The language library will eventually expand to include more languages. As more programs and services come from the County into the community, the website will be updated to reflect the most recent information. The Language Libraries can be access directly using the following links:

  1. Samoan
  2. Spanish
  3. Korean
  4. Vietnamese
  5. Russian
