TACOMA, WA – Today Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist charged Brian Chong Han, 40, with assault, burglary, and robbery. In October, 2012, the defendant, posing as a delivery driver, stabbed and robbed a woman in Spanaway. He was arraigned today and bail was set at $500,000.
On October 19, 2012, the defendant knocked on the victim's door stating he had a delivery. The victim opened her door and the defendant forced his way into her home. He punched her in the face, stabbed her in the chest, pushed her into a chair, and duct taped her to the chair. He took $500, jewelry, and drove off in her car.
The victim broke free, went to her neighbor's home, and called 911. She was taken immediately to the hospital and had surgery for a collapsed lung. Pierce County Sheriff deputies located the car three blocks away, abandoned. During the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant and found the victim's credit cards, ID, and jewelry box in the defendant's home. He was arrested on March 23, 2013.
Charges are only allegations and a person is presumed innocent unless he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
