You are receiving this message, because you signed up to receive updates about Orangegate Park, an approximately 150-acre undeveloped park near the intersection of 84th St. E. and 46th Ave. E.
Orangegate Park
Thank you for your feedback on the master plan update over the past several months. Pierce County is completing the master plan and design for Phase 1 construction, now. The final master plan will be published in April, and detailed design of Phase 1 will begin. Construction of Orangegate Park Phase 1 is expected in 2023-2024. For updates, visit our website.
In the meantime, the Pierce County Parks’ natural lands team is already working hard to remove invasive species and improve trails in Orangegate Park. They will be focused on trail improvements in 2021 and 2022 to improve circulation and wayfinding through the areas of the park south of 84th St. E. for all users. In 2024, after construction is complete, they will do similar trails work in the area of the park north of 84th St. E. If you’d like to see examples of their great work, take a trip to Bresemann Forest, in Spanaway, where they just completed a trail improvement project.
Pipeline Trail
Pierce County will build the Pipeline Trail over the coming years. The trail already connects from downtown Tacoma to 72nd St. E. and Waller Rd. E. The Pipeline Trail will follow the Tacoma Water Pipeline from there to Half Dollar Park, where it will connect to the Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail.
Right now, Pierce County is working on detailed design for Phase 1, which includes trail development from 72nd St. E. and Waller Rd. E. through Orangegate Park. A virtual public workshop about the trail will take place this summer where we’ll present the final design, take comments, and update you on construction plans.
We look forward to hearing from you in an upcoming survey, virtual open house or (fingers crossed!) maybe even in person as COVID restrictions decrease.
Stay healthy and enjoy Pierce County’s parks and trails!
