Park Concept Update
Thank you for your feedback on the Orangegate Park Master Plan Update. We are continuing work to finalize the plan; however we have finalized the Phase 1 concept and wanted to share it with you. Go to our website and download the April 2021 Handout to see the latest drawings: www.piercecountywa.gov/OrangegateParkProject.
Park construction will be split into two phases, with the first phase of construction anticipated in 2024. Phase 1 will take place at approximately the same time as the Pipeline Trail and trailhead are constructed. Phase 1 construction will take place mostly in the 40 acres north of 84th ("the North 40") and include:
- Lawn, picnic areas, and restroom
- Forested dog park with trails
- Nature play area
- Flashing crosswalk at the intersection of 46th & 84th with paved trail connection to Pipeline Trail
In the meantime, the Pierce County Parks’ natural lands team is working hard to
remove invasive species and improve trails. They will be focused on
trail improvements in 2021 and 2022 to improve circulation and wayfinding through the
areas of the park south of 84th St. E. for all users. In 2024, after construction is complete,
they will do similar trails work in the area of the park north of 84th St. E. If you’d like to see
examples of their great work, take a trip to Bresemann Forest
, in Spanaway, where they
just completed a trail improvement project.
