Only one chance to walk through Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park!

Kick off your holiday season with the Fantasy Lights Walk sneak preview. Fantasy Lights Walk takes you through 2.5 miles of animated displays at Spanaway Park. Walkers of all ages and abilities, including wheelchairs and strollers, are invited on Sunday, November 23, 2014. Don't miss it!

The Fantasy Lights Walk provides a close-up preview of more than 300 animated displays and thousands of lights along the winding route through the forested park on the shores of Lake Spanaway. Walkers of all ages will be treated to the magical world of animation and imagination where bears fly kites, Santa and Rudolph sail a tall ship, snow boys kick field goals, penguins slide down an igloo, and reindeer leap over your head. There will be new displays including a NASCAR racecar, dragonflies and a snowman warming by the fire so bring your camera to capture memories to cherish for a lifetime!

Pre-register for the one-day-only Fantasy Lights Walk by completing the pre-registration form that must be received by November 19, 2014. Pre-registration cost for Fantasy Lights Walk is $3 per person, $9 per family of four and children ages 3 and under are free. Day-of-event cost is $4 per person or $12 per family of four. A special $2 per person group rate is available for groups of 20 or more with one group leader registering and paying the entire fee.

Group rates must be paid by November 19, 2014, no exceptions. Tickets can be purchased and picked up at the Parks Administration office in Lakewood during normal business hours. 20th annual Fantasy Lights drive-thru open November 27 - January 1, 2015

This is the 20th annual Fantasy Lights presentation, the largest drive-through holiday display in the northwest, featuring nearly 300 elaborate displays and thousands of sparkling lights. The beautiful two-mile drive along Spanaway Lake has become a memorable lakeside tradition for hundreds of families.

Fantasy Lights drive-through will operate every night between November 27 and January 1, 2015 - including Christmas and New Year's Day - from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Since this is a very popular event, please anticipate long waits of up to one hour to enter the park on Friday and Saturday evenings. Enjoy Fantasy Lights Sundays through Thursdays for a more relaxed experience.

Family Bingo Night is tomorrow...

Gather your friends and family for our Family Bingo Night on November 7 at Meridian Habitat Park in South Hill, Puyallup, from 6:30-9 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each game!

Fees are $5/person (includes a packet of 6 bingo sheets), space is limited (first come-first served) and pre-registration required. Register online or (253)798-4141. Please bring your own highlighter or bingo daubers. Extra game cards will be available for purchase at the door.

Bricks 4 Kidz presents Kids Night Out

We have a special evening planned for your children on Friday, November 21, from 6-9:30 p.m. at Meridian Habitat Park in Puyallup. It's a night filled with motorized model building with LEGO® bricks!

Children will use their creativity to design and build their own models, as well as build with our plans of over 160 different motorized model builds: Amusement Park Rides, Famous Buildings, Forces of Nature, Spectacular Sports, Interesting Inventions, Laws of Motion, Space Adventure, Energy is Everywhere, Construction Craze, Amazing Animals – and many more.

Your children (ages 5-13) will also engage in challenges, games, and creative open play – all supervised by our professional staff. This will be an evening of fun your children will not forget! Pizza and drinks for each child will be provided.

Open house meeting scheduled for Cross Park master plan update

We want your help.  Pierce County’s Parks and Recreation Department is updating the master plan for the 64-acre Cross Park property located on Military Road across from 44th Avenue East.  Come to the open house meetings and help shape your future park.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 12th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Clover Creek Elementary School gymnasium, located at 16715 36th Avenue East in Fredrickson.
