Get the dirt on backyard composting! Learn how to manage your organic waste from your home and garden and see how composting at home can reduce your carbon footprint. Several options will be explored including single bin and multi-bin hot composting, passive composting, tumblers, and other ways to manage your organic waste on site.

Managing Food Waste

Prevent your food waste scraps from going to the landfill where they contribute to the production of methane, a greenhouse gas. Managing organic scraps at home and returning their nutrients to the soil helps aid in the retention of carbon in soil. Several options will be explored including vermicomposting, trench composting, digesters, Bokashi, and the use of tumblers and other self-contained composting systems.
