Now accepting applications for rent/utility assistance

Following up on last week’s newsletter I sent announcing the latest round of financial assistance available to residents, registration is now open for Pierce County residents who need help covering rent or utility bills due to impacts from COVID-19.

Pierce County and the city of Tacoma received funding to provide this assistance to renters across the county and created this program to prevent eviction for those who are behind on rent. Applicants must qualify as low-income at or below the 80% Area Median Income (AMI), but priority will be given to those under 50% AMI.

The table below offers a snapshot of what 50% and 80% below AMI translates to in maximum annual income limit by household size.

Renters who don't qualify for rental or utility assistance will be referred to the Housing Justice Project for free eviction resolution services.

Additional services and resources are available here. Please read the FAQs below before applying. This project is being supported in part by federal award number ERA0377, awarded to Pierce County by the U.S. Dept. of Treasury.
