Dear Friends,
Over the weekend, I remembered an important event on Saturday that I forgot to mention in the last e-letter. A young man from Eatonville, Cole Stover, whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, is offering an opportunity for the community to come together and break bread to help one of their own.
I learned through a friend that Cole organizes an annual fundraiser — the Eatonville Wild Game Feed with all proceeds going to help Luke Keefer. You can read about Luke here. It begins at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 22 at the Eatonville Eagles. I hope to see you there! This project of love is an event we can all come together for!
On another note, it is proper for a government to have an interest in the health and safety of its citizens. It is also proper that it consider many sources of research for creating policy for its citizens to make informed choices. A constituent told me of a recent legislative hearing in the Texas State Senate that contained information and testimony from several doctors on TX SB1669: Relating to prohibited discrimination regarding vaccination status and mandates for receiving or participating in the administration of vaccines; authorizing administrative penalties. Because it’s a hot topic for many, you can view the hearing with the doctors speaking here, if you choose.
The purpose of sharing that hearing is to provide you with additional expertise that isn’t readily discussed in this state. That hearing shares knowledge and medical experiences. I am not endorsing any comments made by the public about the hearing. The setting is neutral and offers an opportunity for you to become more informed when discerning the choices you make about your own health. I am a “pro-truth” advocate. It seems to me that government should be more concerned with honoring the rights of individuals to choose their medicine and make personal healthcare decisions without stigma.
Finally, just today I got a message from an advocate for trails. ForeverGreen Trails is hosting this year’s annual spring event, Trails & Ales, as a BEVINAR! It’s this Thursday, May 20, at 6 p.m. The agenda is about sharing information on our region’s trail network. They will unveil their Trails Scorecard Program—an effort to assess how well local jurisdictions are supporting trails through policy, planning, funding, promotion, and coordination with other entities. They will also discuss using technology to help local jurisdictions develop trails faster. To learn more and register for the BEVINAR, click here.
Grateful for you!
