CM Amy Cruver

Dear Friends,

I don’t recall having so many issues to address at one time. I’m working on getting information out, particularly on the current ordinance for vacating 38th Ave E. in Frederickson. That informational e-letter is coming soon; however, this e-letter is specific to those who are still seeking to receive the COVID-19 shot and have inquired about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As announced in Tuesday’s council meeting, there will be some “pop-up” clinics in the county. Specific to District 3, a clinic will be held outside of Puerto Vallarta on Center Street Sunday (June 6) from 4-7 pm. Promotions are being offered to encourage participation. Visit PCEM Vaccine Awareness (getvaxxedwa.com) for promotional details, as well as where and when the other clinics will be held.

For your personal knowledge, I am sharing the informed consent materials/information put out by the pharmaceutical companies. You can read their publications ahead of time if you choose:  Pfizer; Moderna and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson).  The Pfizer shot will be offered in Eatonville.

To be more informed, read about The PREP Act and COVID-19: Limiting Liability for Medical Countermeasures.

Some folks have inquired about the CDC, the organization our governor cites to validate his policies. The CDC is an unelected regulatory agency that creates rules to implement laws passed by Congress. You can learn about it here.

In a 2011 article, I read that the CDC manages approximately $2.1 billion in financial and resource investments for global health. In addition to Congressional appropriations, the CDC received approximately $12 million in global funding through foundations and other donors including the Bloomberg Family Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the CDC Foundation. (I did not see a more current article.)

The CDC Foundation, which began operating in 1995, supports numerous program activities that extend the impact of the CDC's work. Although the CDC Foundation was chartered by Congress, it is not a government agency nor is it a division of the CDC. For those who like numbers, here is the National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Inc. 990 Return for 2018.

Finally, here is the adult consent form you will be required to fill out should you choose to receive the shot. I trust and rely on you and your personal medical professional, solely, to determine what medical decisions are necessary to promote the best outcomes for your health and for your family. I hope the information in this letter is of value to you.

Grateful for you!
