Dear Neighbor,
Early this year the Pierce County Council passed the first round of American Rescue Plan Act funding to address urgent needs because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This initial allocation will invest $50.5 million of federal funds into Pierce County for a multitude of programs from business assistance to youth support programs. While we still have approximately $37 million remaining to be allocated from this first round, these funds will help alleviate some of the pressures facing our businesses and those impacted most by COVID-19.
To see the full list of funding view Ordinance 2021-32 online.
While the council continues to deliberate on how we should best use these funds, I want to hear your ideas on how you think we should distribute the money. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with your thoughts and suggestions:[email protected].
Pop-up Vaccine Clinics
Over the next few weeks there will be pop-up vaccination clinics throughout Pierce County. These clinics are made possible with the partnership between Pierce County Department of Emergency Management, Alaska Airlines, and the Washington Hospitality Association. By visiting one of these pop-up locations to receive your vaccine, you are not only supporting a local restaurant, but you will also be eligible to be entered into a drawing to win two roundtrip vouchers for anywhere Alaska Airlines flies.
