Hybrid Pierce County Council meetings launched, in-person attendance is back, remote participation remains
The public may now return to attend the Pierce County Council meetings in person. Council opened its chamber doors July 12 for its first in-person meeting in more than a year.
Council will meet in a new hybrid model, offering the public the option to join remotely or in Council Chambers at the County-City Building in downtown Tacoma.
Visitors to the Pierce County Council Chambers will notice a new room layout. The bench seating was replaced with individual chairs to adhere to the rules or guidelines set by the state’s Department of Labor and Industries. Citizens will be separated according to those who took the shot and those who did not. It is assumed that you have received the shot if you are not covering your face. The “keeping 6’ apart” rule is in place for masked citizens. (The courts may have different rules, so if you are going to the County-City Building for court business, please know their rules before you go.)
Members of the public wishing to attend Council and committee meetings remotely can continue to access meetings via the Zoom webinar address or phone number listed on the meeting agenda. All regular meetings and committee meetings are broadcast live online at PierceCountyTV.org or cablecast on Comcast channel 22, Click! channels 22/522 HD or Rainier Connect channels 20/513 HD.
