The Eagles ended the season 15-0 with two titles
At Council’s Jan. 25 meeting we adopted a resolution celebrating significant accomplishments of the Graham-Kapowsin High School Football team. With the recent boundary changes of the Council’s seven districts, I am happy and proud to say the high school now calls District 1 home!
For those who didn’t know, at the end of 2021 the team won the school’s first-ever WIAA Class 4A State High School Football Championship, ending its season with a 14-0 record. Their outstanding performance earned them an invitation to a nationally televised game: the GEICO State Champions Bowl Series, held in Las Vegas.
The Eagles went to Vegas as underdogs – they were competing against a 7A school from Georgia with some of the nations top football recruits. But the players didn’t let the pressure get to them. Instead they remained focused, competed admirably, going back and forth on the scoreboard, and ultimately won the game with a final throw to the end zone with only seconds remaining.
These student athletes demonstrated commitment and perseverance that paid off. Not only did they earn two title wins and end with a perfect record, but more importantly they came together as a team to accomplish their goals and support each other.
We are proud of their accomplishments and are excited for their futures. Read the full proclamation here
