Pierce County Comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness
In our 2022-2023 budget, Council committed $22.3 million toward a Community First! Village, which will go a long way to not just providing housing but also a dignified community for our neighbors who have been chronically homeless. This is inspired by a successful program in Travis County, Texas. When it comes to homelessness, I believe that we need to keep our focus on accountability, recovery, and restoration.
Now, Council has moved into the final phase of crafting the county’s Comprehensive Plan to End Homelessness, along with an accompanying resolution containing next steps. The plan is the result of a stakeholder process in 2021. As Council considers this plan and our next steps, we need input from individuals, families, congregations, businesses, and voluntary organizations, who are all essential to the work of restoration for our homeless neighbors. You can view the proposed plan and resolution at Proposed Resolution No. R2022-22.
