Pierce Transit is expanding their micro-transit service to the southerly end of Pacific Highway to include Spanaway, Parkland, and Midland. The rollout of the program will be announced August 29, but here is a heads up so you can become familiar with the program and be prepared to use the service when it becomes available. The Spanaway Runner will be an additional route for the on-demand public transportation system, with a particular focus on helping elderly and disabled riders. It is funded by a grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Click on Spanaway Runner map above to view the zone, which encompasses Spanaway, Parkland and Midland with transit connections at the South Hill Mall, Parkland, and 72nd Street Transit Centers as well as Hwy 512, Roy and South Hill Park & Rides. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include 176th to Meridian. We’ll continue to work on that. The Runner is active seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Looking for some adventure? Go to the Roy Pioneer Rodeo. Gates open at 12 p.m. Saturday 9/3 and Sunday 9/4 with the rodeo starting at 1:30 p.m. Come out to see everything from barrel racing to team roping.
