Dear Friends,
If you live on, near or drive on State Routes 7 (Pacific Avenue), 161 (Meridian), 162 or 507 (Spanaway-McKenna Hwy), I want to make you aware of a WA State Dept. of Transportation survey that I hope you will find time participate in. Your insight is needed to inform the WSDOT of our needs. As a reminder, there is an opportunity to ask questions or share your thoughts virtually to the Commercial Aviation Coordinating Commission’s Planning Team (CACC). As you likely know by now, the CACC was created by the Legislature and tasked by WSDOT to provide a single regional airport location by June 15, 2023.
Be sure to add to your calendar for the annual Interfaith Community Christmas Concert/Food Drive next Sunday evening (Dec. 11) in Graham.
Continue scrolling for information on these topics and more.
Joyous holiday season wishes to you all!

Washington DOT Survey Open Now
The Washington State Department of Transportation is conducting a study that focuses on reducing potential for crashes, enhancing multimodal travel options, and improving east-west connectivity for people who use state highways in south Pierce County. The highways included in the study are State Routes 7, 161, 507, 702, a section of SR 162 and I-5. The Washington State Department of Transportation has created an online open house focusing on opportunities for improving connectivity, safety and reducing delays for people who walk, bike, roll or drive on these State Routes and major local roadways in the area. Please take a couple of minutes to share your thoughts. The survey opened last week on December 1st and will close on the 16th of December. Make your voice be heard and share your thoughts on these roads
In addition, there is a multi-modal study going on for the South Sound, and you can engage and learn about that work at this landing page.

Commercial Aviation Coordinating Commission Planning TeamReminder: This month, the CACC is holding a series of virtual “office hours,” where you can log on to Zoom and ask questions or share your thoughts with the Commercial Aviation Coordinating Commission Planning Team. These office hours will be informal.
That means:
“This is not a regular CACC meeting, however some Commission members (voting or non-voting) may attend, schedule permitting. We won’t give a formal presentation. You can drop in any time, and we’ll be there to hear what’s on your mind. We should note: if many people are interested, we may change the structure of the conversation or adjust meeting times to make room for everyone to take part. These conversations are not meant to inform an upcoming vote. The Planning Team will summarize the conversations and share it with the Commission, but they are less formal than our surveys, open houses, and public meetings. Click one of the links below to sign up for online office hours. Fill out the form and you will receive an email with a link to join the meeting on Zoom: We know December is a busy month. If you can’t join us this month, don’t worry. We plan to send out more surveys and an online open house so you can add your voice to the conversation in the new year. And if the online office hours are popular, we’ll hold more sessions.”
One more thing. The Legislature begins the 2023 session January 9. I am anticipating there to be some kind of legislation to delay a final decision for a new greenfield sight, as well as reconsidering counties with over 2 million people. We shall see.
The State is paying attention to the actions of its citizens.
