Health & Community Building Study

Cost Effective. Fiscally Responsible. Efficient.

That’s what the proposed Health and Community Building concept—a new home for Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department and Pierce County Community Connections—will deliver to the community.
The Health and Community Building proposal:

  • Solves pressing facility needs for two organizations with complementary services and shared customers.
  • Rids the neighborhood of the blighted, unusable Puget Sound Hospital building—a magnet for crime that contains toxics and environmental hazards (asbestos).
  • Provides for a centralized location of the life-saving work of South Sound 911, which answers calls for 41 police and fire agencies throughout Pierce County. A new operations center was approved by voters in 2013.
Take a look at the fact sheet below and learn more about the concept under consideration.
