February is Black History Month
February is Black History Month, a time to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history. On Tuesday, Jan. 31, the Pierce County Council proclaimed February Black History Month in Pierce County. We had a number of speakers at the presentation, including NAACP Tacoma Branch President Jonathan Johnson, Tacoma Urban League President and CEO T’wina Nobles, who is also the State Senator for the 28th Legislative District, Tacoma Urban League Board Chair LaTasha Wortham, and Lyle Quasim with the Tacoma-Pierce County Black Collective.
Watch and hear what they had to say in this clip from the presentation.
