Pierce County’s expenses are increasing faster than its revenues. The Council will be needing to make serious budget decisions before December 1. It is projected that we will need to reduce it by $20 million each year, roughly 5% of the general fund budget, to maintain financial stability and avoid substantial cuts or tax increases in future years.
Executive Dammeier will be sending his budget to the Council in mid-September for consideration. We will make adjustments according to the Council’s priorities. We have scheduled many budget meetings in preparation for that task. Please take this opportunity to complete the survey prepared by our Finance Department. The deadline of June 14 may be extended. Please submit any additional comments that didn’t have a place in the survey to my office. The survey link is below:
