What's Been Happening with Coordinated Entry?

Pierce County has been making changes to Centralized Intake.We began our transition to a new Coordinated Entry System (CES) in January 2016, with a new partnership of providers.

To date, we have implemented new screening procedures and have begun providing expanded problem solving/diversion services to people who contact AP4H. All of these changes are designed to achieve our overall goal of making CES more responsive to the immediate needs of people experiencing homeless and offering practical and effective help to resolve their crisis. 

What's Changing with Coordinated Entry?

Beginning on October 3, 2016 we transitioned to the new Coordinated Entry System.

Households will be assessed using a standard and objective tool that identifies their vulnerability and the severity of their barriers to housing.

Those who are assessed as having the highest need for homeless system assistance will have prioritized access to our available non-same day shelter and our housing programs – primarily rapid re-housing and, to a lesser degree, permanent supportive housing.

Those with lower needs will be able to access the assistance of a Diversion Specialist to identify a practical solution to their housing crisis.  We will no longer maintain a waiting list or placement roster. 

Those with high needs will receive speedy referrals to housing while all others will have the ability to quickly access diversion assistance.
