Why are we constructing all these projects at the same time?
  • Municipal bonds were sold to fund these projects. Requirements associated with these bonds are driving the anticipated project completion dates.
  • Will relieve traffic choke points and stimulate the local economy.
  • The road construction will be completed earlier and save money.
  • These road segments have failed concurrency i.e. the number of existing lanes have reached their capacity and we are required by the Growth Management Act (GMA) to have these road segments under construction within six years of their concurrency failure. Most of the road segments failed concurrency six years ago.
  • A positive result of the current economic situation is that we are able to construct these projects with significant savings (about 30%) from what we experienced in 2007-2008.
