What parts of the system will be inspected?: The inspector looks at catch basins, storm drain inlets, flow control structures, stormwater ponds, swales, tanks, vaults, pumps, treatment systems and oil/water separators.

1. Will I be charged a fee for the inspection visit?: No. Surface Water Management service charges paid by all county property owners provide funding for this and other surface water programs.

2. What parts of the system will be inspected?: The inspector looks at catch basins, storm drain inlets, flow control structures, stormwater ponds, swales, tanks, vaults, pumps, treatment systems and oil/water separators.

3. What does the inspector look for?: The inspector looks for high sediment levels, missing or broken components, drainage problems, overgrown vegetation, noxious weeds and garbage. Removing excessive sediment and overgrown or invasive vegetation are the most common maintenance needs.

4. What will happen if problems are found?: If any problems are found, a letter is sent to the responsible party with details on how to repair the problem(s) and a timetable for compliance. A re-inspection may be necessary to ensure the problems have been addressed. More information on how to maintain your system can be found in our maintenance manual.
