1. What is CourtCall?

CourtCall is a fee based service that allows licensed attorneys and self-represented litigants to participate telephonically from any location in the world.

2. When are CourtCall Matters heard?

Motions before the Judges are heard on Friday at 9:00 a.m. to Noon, unless scheduled otherwise. Judges may also authorize CourtCall for trials and criminal sentencing dockets. Motions before Court Commissioners are heard at 9:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

3. What is the minimum amount of time required to request for a CourtCall Appearance?

For hearings before Commissioners, you should submit a written request to the Commissioners’ Services Department at least three court days by noon prior to the scheduled hearing date.

For hearings before Judges, you should call the Judges’ Judicial Assistant at least three court days by noon prior to the scheduled hearing date.

4. Do I need approval from the Court to appear by CourtCall?

Yes. Each request will be handled on a case by case basis and must be approved in advance by a Judge or Court Commissioner. CourtCall requests for commissioners are only granted on a limited basis since these hearings take more docket time.

5. How do I submit my request for CourtCall appearance?

For hearings before Commissioners: Submit a written request that details the reasons for your CourtCall request. This request should include the following information:

Case Caption

Hearing Date

Contact Information (Phone number where you can be reached)

Reasons CourtCall appearance is requested

The document must be received by the Commissioners’ Services Department at least three court days prior to the hearing date. Documents should be mailed (or delivered) to:

For hearings before Judges: Make an oral request that details the reasons for your CourtCall request. This request should include the following information:

Case Caption

Hearing Date

Reasons CourtCall appearance is requested

The request can be made orally to the Judge’s Judicial Assistant.

6. How will I know if my request for CourtCall has been approved?

For appearances before a Court Commissioner: Commissioner’s Services Department will contact you if your request has been approved or denied.
For appearances before a Judge: The Judicial Assistant will advise you if your request is approved or denied.

7. Do I need to submit another request if my hearing has been continued or rescheduled?

Yes. You will need to submit another request for each hearing. For rescheduled or continued hearings before a Court Commissioner, you will need to resubmit any working copies and court orders.

8. How much does this service cost?

There is a fee for each CourtCall appearance presented by phone and is payable to CourtCall. No fee is payable to the Court.
