Thanks to everyone who has engaged with the Pipeline Trail Project over the past several months. With COVID-19 restrictions, we cannot meet with you in person, as planned, so we have created a self-guided presentation that you can access on the Pipeline Trail project website: https://www.piercecountywa.gov/6569/Pipeline-Trail-Design to serve as a Virtual Open House. Some major takeaways:
*Preliminary Design is complete for Pipeline Trail to South Hill.
*Phase 1: We have identified phases for implementing the next steps. Phase 1 will construct 1.6 miles of trail from the terminus of the City of Tacoma's trail at 72nd St. E and Waller Rd E and will continue through Orangegate Park, including trailhead facilities at Orangegate. We will complete final design for Phase 1 over the next year and a half and plan for construction on this section starting in 2022.
*Grant Application: we submitted a grant application for funding to construct Phase 1. We should know if the application was successful by October of this year.
*Future Phases: We will continue to plan for additional phases across Canyon Rd and out to South Hill as resources become available.
*Continued Input: There will be more opportunity for input as the design moves forward. To continue to receive updates on this process, please sign up for email updates.
Thank you for your insightful input, feedback, and support over the past months. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions and stay tuned for more updates as we move forward with Phase 1.
Sincerely,
